Area Girls Golf: Virnig, Pierz win at Elk River

Three area golf teams compete Thursday, April 29

ELK RIVER — Emily Virnig fired a first-place 86 to lead the Pierz Pioneers to a first-place tie with Milaca in a Granite Ridge Conference meet Thursday, April 29, at Elk River Golf Club.

Virnig fired nines of 42-44. She eagled the 400-yard par 5 fifth hole.

Ellie Fischer placed third with her 96. Tiffany Virnig shot 117 and Kaylee Gruber a 121 leading to Pierz’s 420 team score.

ALBANY — Maddie Doblo finished with a 119 and Olivia Dempsy shot 120 for the third-place Little Falls Flyers in a Granite Ridge Conference meet Thursday, April 29, at Albany Golf Club.

Individual medalist: Kaitlyn Lahr (Albany) 86

Pillager competes

FERGUS FALLS — Kimberly Keefe fired a 112 and Natalie Birr shot 154 for the Pillager Huskies in a Quad County Conference meet Thursday, April 29, at Pebble Lake Golf Course.
