Area Girls Hockey: Lightning advance past Blue Devils

BREEZY POINT — Caitlyn Gutzman iced the game with a pair of goals in the final 1:34 for the No. 4 Northern Lakes Lightning who defeated the No. 5 Prairie Centre Blue Devils 4-1 in the Section 6-1A Quarterfinals Thursday, Feb. 6.

Goals by Alyssa Kosloski and Riley Fogarty gave the Lightning a 2-1 lead.

Northern Lakes held a 59-8 shots on goal advantage. Goalie Kate Stephens recorded seven saves for the Lightning.

Northern Lakes swept the regular-season series with a 5-0 win Nov. 21 and a 7-1 win Jan. 14.

The Lightning play at No. 1 Willmar 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11 in a semifinal game. The Cards beat Northern Lakes 7-3 Nov. 12 and 7-3 Jan. 7.
