Area Girls Soccer: Houdek’s hat trick leads Flyers over Apollo

LITTLE FALLS — Mikayla Houdek tallied a hat trick for the No. 3 Little Falls Flyers who opened the South Subsection 8-1A tournament with a 5-2 quarterfinal win over the No. 6 St. Cloud Apollo Eagles Tuesday, Oct. 13.

The Flyers got on the board five minutes into the game when Kylee Seidl scored off the pass from Kendal Swantek. Eight minutes later Swantek scored off a pass from Ella Bjorge.

Houdek netted her first goal at the 26 minute mark off a pass from Carla Bassett and the two connected again 10 minutes later for a 4-0 halftime lead.

Apollo made it 4-1 in the second half before Houdek completed the hat trick, this time off a pass from Ella Bjorge who picked up her first career varsity point.

Little Falls goalkeeper Ana Steadman collected 14 saves.
