Area Girls Soccer: Lakers ground Flyers in season opener

BELLE PRAIRIE--Eighth-grader Ana Steadman made her first start in goal and recorded five saves for the Little Falls Flyers in a 6-0 season-opening loss to the Detroit Lakes Lakers Thursday, Aug. 23.

Flyer head coach Scott Orians said the Lakers scored two early goals, but were held scoreless for the rest of the first half thanks to strong performances from Steadman, the back line of freshman Carla Bassett and Ellie Smeija and senior defender Hannah Hittesdorf.
