Staples-Motley wins pair
STAPLES - Class 1A's eighth-ranked Izabella Edin went 2-0 and the Staples-Motley Cardinals posted 6-1 wins over Crosby-Ironton and Wadena-Deer Creek during Tuesday's Mid-State Conference triangular.
All four Cardinal singles players and top two doubles teams went undefeated for the afternoon.

Pine City 4, Aitkin 3
PINE CITY - Claire Browning suffered her first loss of the season and the Aitkin Gobblers met with defeat for just the second time in a 4-3 loss to Pine City in a Granite Ridge Conference meet Tuesday.
Natalie Cahill, ranked seventh in Class 1A, defeated the second-ranked Browning 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 at No. 1 singles dropping the Aitkin junior's record to 15-1.
Elise Courtemanche improved her record to 13-5 with a three-set victory at No. 2 singles for the Gobblers' only win in the singles competition.
