Area Girls Tennis: Flyers end regular season with a win

LITTLE FALLS — Beth Ahlin of Little Falls and Aitkin’s Grace Janzen finished the regular season in the dark with Ahlin prevailing 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 for the Flyers in a 5-2 Granite Ridge Conference win Thursday, Oct. 1.

The No. 1 singles match went so long the two girls finished with low visibility.

Ashley Haggen and Claire Kimman also won their singles matches for Little Falls with Aitikin’s Macy Paulbeck winning at No. 2 singles.

The Flyers teams of Julia Vetch-Hailey McDuffee and Brenna Magee-Erin McKinley finished in the win column as did the Gobblers’ team of Sophie Ryan-Sonia Faust.

PEQUOT LAKES — Megan Muller, Carly Chaney and Riley Fogarty were perfect, winning 6-0, 6-0 in their singles matches to lead Pequot Lakes to a 7-0 Mid-State Conference win over Park Rapids Thursday, Oct 1.

Afton Crocker and Morgan Lueck won 6-0, 6-3 in No. 1 doubles.

The Patriots finished the regular season with an overall record of 10-0.
