Area Girls Tennis: Flyers top Gobblers 4-3

LITTLE FALLS -- Sadie Sue Houdek picked up her 15th win of the season and the Little Falls Flyers claimed their second win of the year with a 4-3 victory over the Aitkin Gobblers in Granite Ridge Conference match Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Houdek, a senior, defeated Aitkin’s Ellie Jindra 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.

Eighth-graders Jenna Athman and Hailey McDuffee eked out a three-set win at No. 3 doubles for the Flyers. Beth Ahlin in singles and Julia Vetch and Ashley Hagen in doubles won their matches in straight sets.

Breanna Hines and Macy Paulbeck won at singles for Aitkin while Brooke Hansen and Abigail Monse claimed the No. 1 doubles match.

CROSBY -- Lauren Rutten and Allison Knosalla each finished 2-0 as Staples-Motley beat Crosby-Ironton and Wadena-Deer Creek with matching 6-1 scores in a Mid-State Conference Triangular Tuesday, Sept 17.

The doubles teams of Jordyan Millsop and Monica Stokman and Bella Sablan and Isabelle Viginiri both went 2-0 for C-I, which defeated W-DC 6-1.


Madison Packer picked up a win in singles for Wadena-Deer Creek and the doubles team of Madelyn Gallant and Kayla Meeks also scored a win.
