PIERZ-Pequot Lakes qualified four players for the Section 7-1A individual tournament while Pierz is advancing three and Crosby-Ironton two following South Subsection action Thursday.
The top four individuals and top four doubles teams advance to the 7-1A individual tournament Tuesday at Virginia.
Top-seeded Brittney Boser-Becky Langer (Pierz) captured the subsection doubles title. Alexis Lueck-Morgan Mudgett (Pequot Lakes) defeated Shelain Lewis-Kalina Spalj (Crosby-Ironton) for third place.
In singles play, seventh-seeded Elli Saxerud (Pequot Lakes) made it all the way to the championship match before losing 6-1, 6-0 to top-seeded Lydia Adams of Pine City. She defeated the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds on her way to the final.
Courtney Boller (Pequot Lakes) won the third-place match by injury default over Kalyn Gritzmacher (Pierz) who also advances by virtue of her fourth-place finish.

Aitkin duo advances
VIRGINIA-Aitkin's doubles team of Brynn Wilson and Heather Gaulke are the lone Gobblers advancing to the Section 7-1A individual tournament following North Subsection competition Thursday.
Wilson-Gaulke won their quarterfinal match against Virginia 6-1, 6-1 before losing 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinals to eventual doubles champions Maddi Jankila-Audrey Delich from Eveleth Gilbert. Wilson-Gaulke were defeated 6-2, 6-4 by Duluth Marshall in the third-place match.

FARGO-Claire Wolhowe-Jenna Dvorak of Staples-Motley recorded a No. 1 doubles win when they defeated Chloe Johnson-Olivia Wallace of Park Rapids as the Cardinals fell 4-3 in the Section 8-1A quarterfinals to the Park Rapids Panthers Thursday.
The No. 5-seeded Cardinals secured their first win when Tasha Achermann took down her Panther opponent at No. 4 singles.
"Doubles were what decided it," Cardinals head coach Jacque Doll said.
Wolhowe-Dvorak held on at No. 1, but with a loss at No. 2 doubles the Cardinals were unable to advance against No. 4 seeded Park Rapids.

FARGO-Abby Westrum of Wadena-Deer Creek took home a win at No. 2 singles as the Wolverines fell to the Perham Yellowjackets 5-2 in the Section 8-1A team quarterfinals Thursday.
Marleen Gari of Wadena-Deer Creek also recorded a win at No. 4 singles for the No. 7-seeded Wolverines.
Going into doubles, the meet was tied but with no other wins the Wolverines couldn't hold on against No. 2-seeded Perham.
