Area Girls Tennis: Pequot improves to 19-0

Five area tennis teams were in action Tuesday, Sept. 21.

PEQUOT LAKES — Carly Chaney improved her record to 23-0 at No.2 singles for Pequot Lakes with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Sydney Roberts as the Patriots defeated Crosby-Ironton 7-0 Tuesday, Sept. 21.

Pequot’s Payton Mudgett-Allyson Yahn needed a tiebreaker set to defeat Isabelle Vignieri-Melanie Severson at No. 2 doubles. Yahn-Mudgett improved their record to 22-1.

C-I’s Ellen Silgen-Ella Lewandowski forced a tiebreaker set at No. 1 doubles against Kelbee Lampi-Lexi Peterson, but fell 7-5, 4-6, 11-9.

LITTLE FALLS — The No. 3 doubles team of Erin McKinnley-Alexis Nelson outlasted the Pierz duo of Lily Poser-Cameryn Herod 6-7, 6-4, 7-5 to help the Little Falls Flyers to a 5-2 Granite Ridge Conference victory over the Pierz Pioneers Tuesday, Sept. 21.

Elise Ballou held off Olivia Thielen for a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) win at No. 4 singles.

Aitkin’s Ashlyn Berg-Sam Much battled to a 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 10-2 marathon loss at No. 1 doubles.
