Area Girls Tennis: Pequot Lakes bests Pierz in Quad

PIERZ -- Courtney Boller, Carly Chaney and Quinn Trottier all remained undefeated on the season for Pequot Lakes which swept the Pierz quadrangular Thursday, Aug. 22..

The Patriots swept Pierz and Mora 7-0 and topped Pine City 5-2.

Boller went 3-0 winning one match at No. 1 singles and two as No. 2 singles. Carly Chaney went 2-0 at No. 4 singles and Quinn Trottier finished 3-0 at No. 3 doubles.

Megan Muller went 2-0 to improve her season record to 8-1 at No. 1 singles and added another win in doubles.

Pierz knocked off Mora 5-2 and fell to Pine City 5-2.

Mariah Kirschbaum went 2-1 for the Pioneers at No. 4 singles. Pierz’s Maddie Hoheisel and Marybeth Tautges went 2-1 at No. 3 doubles.

ST. CLOUD -- Beth Ahlin did not drop a game winning her No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-0 for Little Falls as the Flyers fell to St. Cloud Apollo 5-2 Thursday, Aug. 22.

Sadie Sue Houdek picked up Little Falls’ other win at No. 1 singles winning 6-1, 6-1.

STAPLES -- Jenna Dvorak dropped just seven games on her way to winning the No. 3 singles title Wednesday, Aug. 21, to lead the Staples-Motley Cardinals to a tie for second in the Highway 10 tournament.

Wadena-Deer Creek placed sixth with Kaylee Ova and KatieRae Fiemeyer posting a second-place finish at No. 3 doubles..
