VIRGINIA - Aitkin's Claire Browning was runner-up in singles competition and the doubles team of Bethany Kinzer-Lydia Browning finished fourth in Monday's North Subsection 7-1A individual tournament.
All three will advance to the Section 7-1A individual tournament next Tuesday at Virginia.
The second-seeded Browning defeated her first two opponents in straight sets before losing 6-1, 6-1 to top-seeded Nore Heinitz from Duluth Marshall in the finals.
Kinzer and Browning notched a first-round win before losing 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 in the semis and defaulting in the third-place match.
Aitkin's Mauren Butenhoff was eliminated in the first round as was the Gobbler doubles team of Brynn Wilson-Grace Liljenquist.
