Area Girls Tennis: Wadena-Deer Creek sweeps Parkers Prairie

WADENA — The Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines picked up their second win of the season, a 7-0 shutout of the Parkers Prairie Panthers Thursday, Sept. 17, in a non-conference match.

The closest match came at No. 2 doubles where the Wolverines’ Katie Rae Fiemeyer and Mercedes Schulz lost their first set 5-7, but fought back to win 6-2, 10-5.

Pierz 5, Mora 2

MORA — Val Gall went three sets to win her No. 1 singles match for the Pierz Pioneers who defeated the Mora Mustangs 5-2 in a Granite Ridge Conference match Thursday, Sept. 17.

It was a revenge match for Gall who was defeated 6-1, 6-2 by Ada Kruger two days ago in a 4-3 Pioneer win. Thursday, Gall lost her first set to Kruger 6-2, but fought back to take the next two sets 6-1, 6-4 for the win.

At No. 3 singles, Megan Girtz dropped her first set 6-2 before winning the next two 6-4, 6-2.
