Area Golf: Heggerston finishes fourth in Open Championship

Maggie Heggerston shot back-to-back 77s Monday and Tuesday to tie for fourth in the Minnesota Women's State Open Championship at Town and Country Club in St. Paul.

Maggie Heggerston shot back-to-back 77s Monday and Tuesday to tie for fourth in the Minnesota Women's State Open Championship at Town and Country Club in St. Paul.

Heggerston, an incoming senior at Pequot Lakes High School, finished 12 shots behind PGA club professional Lisa Grimes of Alexandria Golf Course. Grimes, who carded the only round under par for the tournament, shot a 142.

Heggerston shot 2-over-par on both nines Tuesday. She tallied four bogeys, one double and two birdies, including the par 5 17th.

On Monday, the Cragun's Legacy Courses member was able to erase a quad with three birdies. Heggerston was the second amateur finisher behind Kenzie Neisen of New Prague.
