DULUTH — Elizabeth Meschke posted a ninth-place finish at the MGA Mid-Amateur Championship Aug. 30-31 at Northland Country Club.
Meschke, playing out of Cragun’s Legacy Courses, opened with an 89 to tie with Lynn Anderson of Braemer Golf Course for the ninth spot. The former Pequot Lakes Patriot and Little Falls Flyer maintained her spot with an 85 Monday.
Jasi Acharya of Interlachen Country Club won the event with an 8-over 150.

Whitefish men
PEQUOT LAKES — Frank Roedl, Terry Stansfield, Bill Johander, Mike Rancour captured the two best ball net game Tuesday, Aug. 25, for the Whitefish Golf Club’s men’s league.
Steve Ogren, Steve Holubar, Richard Hansen and Chuck Hicks finished second with Darrell Swanson, Jim Tompson, Al Falconer and John Rappath finishing third.
Rappath and Falconer were closest to the pin. Rancour and Stansfield drained the longest putts.
Whitefish women
PEQUOT LAKES — Anita Stensby was the first flight winner of the Mutt and Jeff event Wednesday, Aug. 26, during the Whitefish Women’s 18-hole league.
Cathay Munger placed second followed by Kathy Coobs in third and Pat McKee in fourth.
Joan Kantos won the second flight. Myra Faust was second, Joi Brandt third and Cheryl Bontrager fourth.

Kantos fired a 66 for the individual low net round. Munger and Stensby each carded birdies.
Whitefish shootout
PEQUOT LAKES — Anita Stensby fended off nine other competitors Wednesday, Aug. 26, to win the Whitefish Golf Club women’s shootout.
Stensby’s final opponent was Cheryl Bontrager, who finished second.
Holes-in-one
Nancy Springer, Scottsdale, Ariz., aced the 76-yard 14th hole of The Classic at Madden’s Aug. 22 using an 8-iron.
