PEQUOT LAKES -- Kathy Coombs, Ginger Giefer and Marguerite Baker won their respective flights Wednesday, July 10, game of Stableford for the Whitefish Golf Club women’s 18-hole league.
Pat Kline, Joan Kantos, and Joi Brandt placed second followed by Nancy McEnroe, Roxanne Thompson and Cheryl Stansfield.
Baker and Coombs both shot the low net round of the day with a 64. Birdies went to Kline, who carded three, Cathy Munger, who had two, Mimi Swanson, Barb Holubar, McEnroe, Kantos and Luann Rickert each had one. Pam Muiselewicz chipped in for birdie as well.

EAST GULL LAKE -- Julie Hofius and Sharon Utke won the blind partners low score event Tuesday, July 9, for the Madden’s women’s night.
Lorri Reuer hit the longest drive. Angella roby was closest to the pin and Tara Jones made the longest putt.
Women’s tourney scheduled
Cuyuna Rolling Hills Women’s Golf Association will host a nine-hole Rally For The Cure event and a nine-hole Memorial Tournament Wednesday, July 24.
The Memorial Tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. The Rally For The Cure Event will begin at 10:45 a.m. All area women are invited to participate. There is a $20 tax deductible donation for the Rally event. There will be a special Rally rate for green fees if you are not a member of Cuyuna Rolling Hills.

MGA News
Andrew Israelson of the Vintage at Staples opened the 116th MGA Amateur Championship Monday, July 15, with a 1-under 71 at Somerby Golf Club in Byron.
Israelson is tied for third after the first round, three shots off defending champion Van Holmgren of Baker National Golf Course.
Last year, Israelson tied for second behind Holmgren.
The field will be cut after 36 holes down to the top 60 players and ties. Another 18 holes will be played Wednesday, July 17, to determine the champion.
