Brainerd’s Cole Proctor finished 6-over and tied for fourth at the Minnesota Junior PGA Players Tour event Aug. 5-6 at Whitebirch Golf Course and Deacon’s Lodge at Breezy Point Resort.
Proctor shot a 4-over round 76 in the first round at Whitebirch. He tallied four birdies and five bogeys with a triple bogey.
“I had one bad hole at Whitebirch,” Proctor said. “I made a triple on a long par-3. I pulled it way left O.B. So just one bad tee shot.”
In the second round at Deacon’s Lodge, Proctor tallied four birdies and six bogeys to card a 2-over 74. His 74 was the second best score in the second round behind Lucas Feterl of Maple Grove, who shot an even-par 72.
“I hit greens pretty good, but I didn’t putt very well,” Proctor said. “The greens at Deacon’s were tough. I was just making birdies when I needed to and didn’t make a ton of mistakes.”

Proctor finished four shots off the winner Kyler Schwamb of Farmington who finished at 2-over.
“I just need to work on my putting more,” Proctor said. “I was missing some short ones. I’m glad I know I can have shot to win these tournaments.”
Brainerd’s Evan Quinn tied for 30th with an 18-over. Quinn shot an 84 at Whitebirch in Round One and a 78 in Round Two at Deacon’s Lodge.
On the girls leaderboard, Baxter’s Sophie Karsnia finished third at 27-over. She carded an 83 at Whitebirch and an 88 at Deacon’s Lodge. She tallied two birdies in the two rounds.
Karsnia was 28 strokes behind the winner Shelby Busker of Detroit Lakes who finished the tournament 1-under.
