ELROSA-With four doubles and two home runs, Pierz powered its way past Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 8-5 in the opening round of the District 6, Division II playoffs Thursday.
Noah Boser smashed a home run and a double and finished 2-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Lane Girtz also hit a homer and a double. He went 2-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Matt Kummet and Matt Tautges also doubled for Pierz.
In the second round, Pierz pushed Wadena to the loser's bracket with a 5-4 come-from-behind victory.
Pierz trailed 4-1 before it scored two in the fourth and two more in the sixth.
Matt Kummet pitched four innings of relief for the victory. He struck out four and allowed just one hit and no runs. He was also 2-3 at the plate with an RBI.

Matt Tautges finished 2-5 with a triple, two runs and an RBI and Luke Girtz was 2-4 with a run for Pierz.
