Area Softball: Cards clip Gobblers by two

STAPLES--Quinn Uhlman went 4-4 and Lisa Kossan finished 2-3 with a double and a triple as the Staples-Motley Cardinals tagged the Aitkin Gobblers with an 8-6 non-conference loss Friday.

CROSBY-Summer Alexander hit a three-run double and finished with five RBIs total as the Pillager Huskies bettered the Crosby-Ironton Rangers 17-5 in non-conference softball Friday.

Vanessa Peterson had two hits, including a double, and finished with four RBIs and Brooke Hunstad drove in two runs on two hits.

C-I's Emelie Froidcoeur finished 3-3 with a double, a run and an RBI. Kaitlyn Johnson went 1-1 with two walks, a double and an RBI.

ROYALTON-Claire Reardon ripped the game-winning RBI with a single down the line as Pierz scored six runs in the top of the seventh to beat the Royalton Royals 12-9 in a non-conference game Friday.

BERTHA-Jordyn Glenz and Morgan Glenz both scored on a wild pitch helping the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders to a 9-8 come-from-behind victory against the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Thunder Friday.
