Area Softball: Gobblers sweep Cardinals

Three area teams took to the diamond Wednesday, May 26.

AITKIN — Ally Ehnstrom tallied two doubles in Aitkin’s Mid-State Conference doubleheader sweep of Staples-Motley 15-0, 13-3 Wednesday, May 26.

Ehnstrom’s doubles came in Game Two where Aitkin tallied four doubles total.

Brianna Bendson and Grace Bendson each tallied two hits and scored a run for Staples-Motley in the Game Two loss.

In Game One, Kortney Lamke and Camryn Leiviska each tallied doubles for the Gobblers in their 15-0 win.

Alli Olander and Mandy Carter each recorded hits for the Cardinals in Game One.

Pierz 5, Albany 1

ALBANY — Tori Wagner pitched a complete game with five strikeouts as Pierz extended its winning streak to 11 games with a 5-1 Granite Ridge Conference win over Albany Wednesday, May 26.

Liz Kelash, Emma Melby and Kelsie Cummings all tallied multiple hits for the Pioneers in the win.


The win gave Pierz the season sweep of Albany as it beat them 5-3 April 29.
