PIERZ-Kathryn Miska struck out the first 16 batters she faced and Alex Kotaska homered to give Class 2A's fifth-ranked Pequot Lakes Patriots a 5-0 non-conference win over Pierz Friday.
Miska finished with 18 strikeouts and three walks. She allowed just one hit, a double by Claire Reardon.
Cassandra Haman was 2-3 with an RBI and Barbara Miller and Kathryn Miska each hit leadoff doubles for Pequot.
Brittney Boser collected 10 strikes for the 5-2 Pioneers.
