VERNDALE-Kathryn Miska struck out 14 and didn't walk a batter for Class 2A's third-ranked Pequot Lakes Patriots who defeated the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders 7-2 in non-conference play Thursday.
Clare Ganley finished 2-4 at the plate with a double and RBI. Miska and Cassandra Haman each had two singles for the Patriots.
Madison Valley was 2-3 with a triple for BHV while Sydney Weniger and Haley Youngbauer recorded two hits apiece.
