Area Softball: Pequot takes care off BHV

Six area teams hit the diamond Friday, April 30


VERNDALE — Morgan Eckes hit a first-inning grand slam for the Pequot Lakes Patriots in their 9-1 win over the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders Friday, April 30.

Eckes also pitched seven innings, allowed two hits, struck out 14 and walked two in the win.

Kaitlyn Geschwill tallied two hits and Maya Orvis belted a triple for Pequot.

Reagan Ludovissie tallied one hit and one run for the Raiders with Carissa Winscher notching an RBI for BHV.

PINE RIVER — Danielle Burgoyne went 2-2 with a triple for the Pine River-Backus Tigers in their 19-8 Northland Conference win over Cass Lake-Bena.

Jaime Johnson earned the win and struck out two. She also ripped a triple for PRB.

Wadena-Deer Creek wins 2

WADENA — Jenna Dykhoff tallied four hits with two doubles over two games in Wadena-Deer Creek’s doubleheader sweep of Pillager 3-2 and 10-8 Friday, April 30.

Myja Nemeth earned the win in Game One and allowed two runs in seven innings pitched.

Emma Hinton tallied three hits in Game Two for WDC.

Brooklyn Rudrud tallied three hits and two RBIs for Pillager in Game Two for Pillager.

Olivia Peterson tallied three hits in Game One and two hits in Game Two for the Huskies.

Crosby-Ironton drops 2

PARK RAPIDS — Brrynn Hollenhurst tallied two RBIs for Crosby-Ironton in Game One of its doubleheaders lost to the Park Rapids Panthers 15-5, 18-4 Friday, April 30.

Briana Miller went 2-3 with one RBI in Game Two for the Rangers.

Gwen Rosecrans recorded both losses but struck out 12 total over the two games.
