Area Softball: Pillager gets in the win column

PARKERS PRAIRIE--Ella Kilchesky won both of her starts as the Pillager Huskies broke into the win column for the first time with a doubleheader sweep of the Parkers Prairie Panthers 6-5, 8-3 Tuesday.

Kilchesky and Samantha Thomas hit doubles in Game One, while Kacey Henderson doubled and Hailea Books and Skylar Uselman each drove in two runs in Game Two.

Pequot wins 2

PEQUOT LAKES-Ari Merta finished 3-5 with a home run and a double to power the Pequot Lakes Patriots to a 17-1, 22-2 Mid-State Conference sweep of the Staples-Motley Cardinals Tuesday.

Alex Kotaska recorded a triple for the Patriots, while Karlie Trottier drove in four RBIs in each game.

Pierz 9, Holdingford 5

LITTLE FALLS-Ella Kalusche finished 2-2 with two runs a triple and three RBIs to help Pierz to a 9-5 victory over Holdingford in a completion of Monday's game that was called because of darkness.

Brittney Boser finished 2-4 with an RBI and pitched three innings for the win. Terri Tretter was 1-4 with two runs, a walk and an RBI.

Taylor Cummings pitched three innings for Pierz. She struck out four, walked three and allowed on hit and one earned run.

In Monday's Game One, Laura Skiba was 2-5 with a game-winning two-run single in the 14th inning leading Pierz to a 3-2 win.

Taylor Cummings walked three times and scored the game-winning run and Emily Daiker was 2-4 with two walks.

Boser pitched all 14 innings. She struck out 13 and allowed nine hits and two runs. None of the runs were earned as Pierz committed six errors.

PRB wins 2

PINE RIVER-Danielle Burgoyne smashed a home run, recorded a double, a triple and totaled five RBIs as the Pine-River Backus Tigers swept the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Wolves 9-8 and 13-10 in an Upper Mississippi Conference doubleheader Tuesday.

Lindsey Tulenchik recorded a triple and two RBIs. Jada Olivier doubled and drove in three runs. Bailey Wynn finished with one RBI and three runs scored and Emma Mills scored twice.

MENAHGA-Melanie Line, Katie Johnson, Haley Youngbauer and Morgan Glenz of Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale all recorded doubles to bring down the Menahga Braves 13-3 and 7-2 in a Park Region Conference doubleheader Tuesday.

Line recorded four RBIs and three hits overall. Glenz tallied four hits and four RBIs for BHV, while Mikayla Hinzmann had three RBIs.
