Area Softball: PR-B nabs 2 conference wins

LAPORTE--Jada Olivier combined for 10 strikeouts as she pitched the Pine River-Backus Tigers to a 17-2 victory over the Laporte Wildcats and a 18-1 win over Northome/Kelliher Tuesday, April 30.

In the win against Laporte, which ended after four innings because of the 15-run rule, Rylee Norman was 2-3 with two runs scored and six other Tigers collected singles. Jaime Johnson and Gabby Heck both drove in two runs.

Olivier collected five strikeouts. She walked one and allowed two runs on three hits.

Against the Mustangs, Danielle Burgoyne finished 3-4 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs. Jaime Johnson also hit a triple and. Bailey Wynn scored three times and drove in two runs and Heck drove in two more runs.

Olivier stuck out five, walked three and allowed three hits and one run.

BHV 20, WDC 11

BERTHA-Morgan Glenz and Tess Jones drove in a combined 10 runs for the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders leading to a 20-11 Park Region Conference victory over the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines Tuesday, April 30.

Glenz finished 4-4 with a pair of doubles, five RBIs and scored three runs. Jones homered, doubled, drove in five and scored four times.

Mardi Ehrmantraut tripled and Kaija Weishalla doubled for BHV. Both finished with three hits.

Melanie Line struck out three and walked two for the win.

Hailey Kircher went 3-5 with a double, three RBIs and two runs to lead WDC, which left 13 runners on base. Mackenzie Carsten and Mercedes Schulz each added a double. Nevada Schulz, Kyla Ness, Madison Carsten and Mercedes Schulz all had multiple hits.

C-I drops two

DETROIT LAKES-Emma Sanford and Mya Decent both knocked out home runs, but Crosby-Ironton dropped both ends of a Mid-State Conference doubleheader Tuesday, April 30 to Detroit Lakes 10-0 and 15-4.

Monica Stokman and Bailey Potter doubled for C-I. Stokman, Caitlyn Gutzman and Brianna Miller each finished with two hits.

Gutzman and Abigail Arneson singled for the only two Ranger hits in the first game.
