Area Track and Field: Pequot girls, W-DC boys win Frostbite Invite

PEQUOT LAKES--Adelaide Hubbard swept the girls hurdles event and won the triple jump to lead the Pequot Lakes Patriots girls to first place in Tuesday's Frostbite Invitational.

PEQUOT LAKES-Adelaide Hubbard swept the girls hurdles event and won the triple jump to lead the Pequot Lakes Patriots girls to first place in Tuesday's Frostbite Invitational.

Hubbard won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.83 and the 300 hurdles in 51.52. Lydia Hubbard was second in the 300 hurdles for Pequot.

The Patriots' Grace McGuire won the 400 dash. Cassidy Chaney captured the 800 run and Pequot won three of the four relays. Desera Engholm placed first in the shot put and discus for Pequot.

Pillager's Julia Johnson won the high jump title with Pequot's Britt Kratochvil the runner-up. Johnson topped the pole vault at 9-8 to better Pequot's Mirjana Ganley who went 8-0. Johnson also won the long jump beating runner-up Adelaide Hubbard for the title.

The Pillager girls placed third.

W-DC'S Mikaela Malone sprinted to first in the 100 dash and Kennedy Gravelle won the 3200 run for the fourth-place Wolverines.

Crosby-Ironton's Kylie Monson was runner-up in triple jump.

On the boys side, W-DC topped Pequot Lakes for the team title. The Wolverines secured wins from Hunter Hawkins in the 400 dash and long jump, Lucas Hinojos in the 800 and 1600 runs and Jonathan Pantages in high jump.

Pequot's Reid Pierzinski continued his dominance to lead the Pequot boys to second by winning the 200 dash over W-DC's Bereket Loer and Pantages. Pierzinski won the 110 hurdles in 14.88 to better Pine River-Backus' Nate Wosmek. Pierzinski clipped Wosmek in the 300 hurdles as well and won the triple jump with a 43-4 effort.

Sam Person added a victory in the 3200 and Addisoune Harrington won pole vault for the Patriots.

Pillager won the boys 4x800 and were second in the 4x200.

Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale's Samuel Moore dominated both throwing events. He won the shot put by almost 15 feet and the discus by almost 40 feet.

Gobblers win 2 events

OGILVIE-Woodrow Rian won the 400 dash and was runner-up in the long jump as the Aitkin Gobbler boys team finished fourth at Tuesday's Ogilvie Lions Invite.

In the girls meet, the Gobblers' 4x100 relay of Ana Kern, Hannah Slette, Ellie Jindra and Hannah Paulbeck raced to first place. Aitkin's Jessica Shaver was runner-up in the 400 dash.
