Area Track and Field: Pierz girls win subsection

ALBANY-- Beth-el Algarin won the shot put and discus and Chelsie Kurtz won the high jump and was runner-up in the 100-meter dash for the Pierz Pioneers girls during their victory in the Subsection 19, Section 5-1A meet Tuesday.

ALBANY- Beth-el Algarin won the shot put and discus and Chelsie Kurtz won the high jump and was runner-up in the 100-meter dash for the Pierz Pioneers girls during their victory in the Subsection 19, Section 5-1A meet Tuesday.

The 4x200 relay of Breanna Kurtz, Leah Fuhrman, Avy Lease and Chelsie Kurtz and 4x100 relay of Breanna Kurtz, Fuhrman, Brekanda Lashinski and Kylie Porter won and the 4x800 team of Kelsi Stuckmayer, Kacy Broschofsky, Lease and Brenna Andres was second.

Fuhrman won the 200 dash and placed fourth in the high jump. Stuckmayer was runner up in the triple jump. Andres placed third in the 400 dash. Broschofsky finished third in the 1600. Taryn Becker finished fourth in the 100 hurdles and Emma Kroska was fourth in the long jump.

Alex Gross won the triple jump and Nathan Poster finished second in the pole vault and Zachary Becker placed fourth in the 110 hurdles for the sixth-place boys team.

The top four individuals and top two relays will advance to the Section 5-1A meet.

Little Falls wins 2

LITTLE FALLS-Kali Schirmers, Amari Riley, Hunter Zupko and Nick Maslowski all won two individual events for the Little Falls Flyers who swept Tuesday's Little Falls Invite.

For the girls, Schirmers won the 100- and 300-meter hurdles and Riley was first in the shot and discus.

Maslowski led the boys in the discus and shot, while Zupko turned in the fastest times in the 800 and 1600 runs.

Also winning for the boys were Mitchell Schirmer in the 110 hurdles, Tyler Moore in the 3200, Brett Zawatzke in the high jump and the 4x100 relay.

Isabelle Pechan and Alice Foote won the 100 and 200 dashes respectively for the girls and Flyer girls 4x200 and 4x400 relays also placed first.
