ROYALTON — The No. 2 Aitkin Gobblers won comfortably over no. 7 Mille Lacs, but were involved in tight meets with No. 3 Blackduck-Cass Lake-Bena and No. 1 Royalton-Upsala at the Section 7-1A tournament Saturday, Feb 15.
Marshall Larson notched three wins by pin and Nathan Trotter tallied three wins as the Gobblers finished 2-1 for the day. They defeated Mille Lacs 60-15 and Blackduck-Cass Lake-Bena 36-34 to advance to the championship against Royalton-Upsala.
In the championship the Gobblers broke out to a 9-0 lead with wins by Trotter and Larson. Aitkin won four of the first five matches, including wins from Nathan Rom and Walker Jones to lead 21-3. They would get just two more wins the rest of the meet from Jacob Williams and Tyler Decent.
Royalton won seven of the last nine matches to claim the section championship and a trip to the state tournament.

Rangers end season with a split at section tournament
ROYALTON — No. 8 Crosby-Ironton’s Kyle Blazek and Michael Fitzpatrick earned two wins by pin and John Paul Fitzpatrick and Jake Klancher picked up two wins as Crosby-Ironton competed at the Section 7-1A tournament Saturday, Feb 15.
The Rangers defeated No. 9 Ogilvie 42-33 in the play-in round but lost to No. 1 seed Royalton in the quarterfinals 53-22. That ended Crosby-Ironton’s team season with an overall record of 10-13.
