The author of the "Shelly Bean the Sports Queen" books, Brainerd's own Shelly Boyunm-Breen will be at Central Lakes College 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 as part of the National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
In addition to reading one of her books, Breen will share with youth and families what she has always loved about playing sports and how her character, Shelly Bean, can inspire children to persevere.
Autographed books will be for sale that day following Breen's talk.
Following Breen's presentation, the Raider women's basketball team will have a game at 1 p.m. followed by the men's game at 3 p.m.
