Athletics: Flyers name athletes of month
Jackson Grant and Kali Schirmers were named the Little Falls Flyers Athletes of the Month.
Grant, a junior on the Nordic ski team, earned All-State honors at the state Nordic ski meet at Giants Ridge with a top 10 finish.
“Jackson has been the No. 1 finisher for the boys’ ski team in every single race this season as well as placing at the top of each race among a very competitive section, including this year’s top state-ranked male,” Flyers head coach Mattia Hendrickson said. “His many great finishes have been a key factor in the team's success this season. Jackson has not only grown as an athlete this season, but also as a leader. In the face of his success, Jackson has remained humble. Jackson is extremely dedicated to skiing and his hard work and determination have led him to his success.”
Schirmers is a senior on the Flyers gymnastics team.
“Kali Schirmers is a senior and captain for the Flyers gymnastics team,” Flyers head gymnastics coach Rachelle LeBlanc said. “She always comes with a good attitude to practice and uplifts her teammates and encourages them in and out of the gym. She is always a bright light in the gym and she will be missed greatly next year. She is very close to joining the “9.0 Club” for the team and works every day to achieve this in the next competition. Before this year, Kali had never competed all-around and when asked to compete beam for the team, she gladly did and now she is our No. 2 all-arounder. This is a testament to her hard work and drive.”
