Rachel Josephson and Gabe Hirsch were named the Little Falls Flyers Athletes of the Month for November.
Josephson finished her senior season by qualifying for the Class 1A state swimming and diving meet for the third consecutive year in the 50-yard freestyle and also anchored a relay that qualified for state while breaking the school record four times in a row.
During prelims and finals of both sections and state, the 400 free relay team broke the school record.
“Rachel not only helped the team with her performance, but with her leadership,” said Flyers head coach Tim Corbett. “The success we had on the team this year was a result of the atmosphere that was created in practice. Rachel started off the year as a strong positive leader and continued to grow in that role as the season progressed. She really wanted to have a relay go to state with her this year and she worked very hard to make that happen. That involved her improvement as well as her encouraging others to get better. She finished her final season as a Flyer swimmer on the last day of the season in the state consolation finals with the fastest relay swim of her career. That is something that most swimmers do not get the opportunity to do and it is a result of the type of person that Rachel has become.”
Hirsch started the boys hockey season with three goals and five assists in three games during November.

“Gabe continues to be a positive leader for our boys hockey team,” Flyers head boys hockey coach Tony Couture said. “He also started the season as our top point player. Gabe is an outstanding young man and does well on and off the ice.”
