Little Falls senior Gabe Nagel will sign his NCAA National Letter of Intent to wrestle next season with the University of Minnesota Gophers 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Little Falls Wrestling room.
Nagel is the No. 1 ranked 170-pound wrestler in Class 3A after finishing second in last year’s state tournament. The loss in the state final was Nagel’s first in two years.
Nagel finished his sophomore season 46-0 with a state title at 160 pounds. Nagel went 41-1 last season.
As a freshman, Nagel finished 36-7 and lost both his matches at 145 pounds of the Class 3A state tournament.
Nagel’s classmate Taylor Jordan signed her letter of intent to play basketball next season at Concordia College, Moorhead. The senior guard is the daughter of Kevin and Tara Jordan.

Last season Jordan led the Flyers with 311 points or 11.3 points per game. Her 47 assists and 55 steals also led the Flyers. She added 84 rebounds. She shot 30% from the field, 28% from 3-point and 63% from the line.
Wadena-Deer Creek’s Mikeala Malone signed her letter to compete for the Bemidji State University women’s track and field team.
Malone will be a sprinter and long jumper for the Beavers
“I’ve been running meets there [BSU] since I was in 8th grade,” Malone said. “It feels like home. I love the coaches and the team atmosphere. It’s going to be a lot of fun next year.”

Malone is WDC’s record holder in the long jump at 17-5.5 and sits No. 2 in the school record book in the 100-meter dash at 12.55 seconds. As a freshman, she finished in eighth place at the 2018 Class 1A state meet in the 100-meter dash and as a sophomore, she returned to state where she placed 10th in the long jump. She was the 2018 Section 6-1A Champion in the 100 dash, the 2019 Section 6-1A Champion in the long jump and the 2019 Section 6-1A runner-up in the 100 dash.
Crosby-Ironton senior point guard Lily Peterson signed her letter of intent to play basketball next season at South Dakota Mines college.
The Hardrockers compete in the Division II Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Last season, Peterson was named the Brainerd Dispatch Player of the Year as she led the Rangers with 400 points (15.4 points per game) and 128 assists. She added 86 rebounds, 32 steals and one blocked shot. She shot 48% from the field, 37% from 3-point and 83% from the line.
