Super stock driver Dave Read celebrated his birthday and claimed first place in the point's race from Seth Kramer with a thrilling 20-lap feature win Saturday at North Central Speedway.
Rushing to beat the rain drops, the track staff started the races about a half hour early and were able to get the entire program in except for a few raindrops in the last feature of the evening.
Dylan Nelson rushed out to the early lead in the Super Stock feature and was running in first place until Kramer brought out a caution flag. Jake Goetze took advantage of the caution and grabbed first place from Nelson on lap six.
Goetzeran up front for the next few laps with Read in second. Car trouble on lap 11 forced Goetze out of the top spot with Read taking first. Once out front and in clean air, Read widened his lead to the checkered flag.
Ryan Canon is just inside of the top 10 in points in the Modified class standings. He may move up a couple spots with a win in the 15-lap hotly contested battle with Troy Jordan.

Jordan has two wins in the 2015 season and could smell another as he took the inside part of the track and Canon took the outside. The two drivers were nose-to-nose until lap nine when Canon gained a car-length lead.
It stayed that way until six laps remained in the race. The 71 car of Tim Siercks broke bringing out a caution flag. Canon again gained a slight lead on the restart and continued running the high side of the track to victory.
Danny Vang withstood an early challenge from Brandon Mehrwerth and captured the checkered flag in the Northern Sport Modified feature race. Billy Kendall, last week's winner in the Northern Sport Division feature, took the win in the Street Stock feature Saturday.
Brendon Yamry is running away with the points race in the Sport Compact class and he gained more separation with a feature win. Devin Larson was the Pure Stock winner and Mitchell Hribar scored another win in the Mod 4 feature.
North Central will host a full program July 4 with racing starting at 6:45 p.m..
