Baseball: Bees win one of three weekend games

Tom Fairbanks hit a 3-run home in the first inning for the Brainerd Bees' only runs in a 4-3 Lakewood League loss to the Sauk Rapids Cyclones Sunday.

Joel Martin finished 3-4 with a double and Blake Eller was 1-4.

Burrell Flanagan worked 6.2 innings allowing 12 hits and four runs (3 earned). Blake Eller allowed one hit in 1.1 innings.

Cold Spring 7, Bees 1

Joel Martin, Blake Peterson and Jaron Hanson singled for Brainerd's only hits in a 7-1 loss to the Cold Spring Springers in Lakewood League play Saturday night.

Peterson pitched six innings giving up nine hits and seven runs (6 earned) with six strikeouts and two walks. Tim Martin allowed one hit in the final two innings.

Joel Martin went 3-for-6 and scored the winning run in the bottom of the 11th on a throwing error as Brainerd shaded the Bemidji Bucks 9-8 in an exhibition game Friday.

Blake Eller was 2-5 with three runs, Tom Fairbanks was 2-5 with a double and three RBIs and Hanson Devine was 2-4. Tim Martin was 1-1 with three walks.

Tim Martin worked two innings and got the win allowing two hits.
