Baseball: Warriors' season ends in Section 8-4A losers' bracket

COLD SPRING--The Brainerd Warriors left the bases loaded twice, stranded 10 runners in all, and fell to the sixth-seeded Rogers Royals 4-0 in a Section 8-4A losers' bracket game Saturday.

COLD SPRING-The Brainerd Warriors left the bases loaded twice, stranded 10 runners in all, and fell to the sixth-seeded Rogers Royals 4-0 in a Section 8-4A losers' bracket game Saturday.

Brainerd left the bases loaded in the fifth and sixth innings and finished the season with a 15-8 mark.

A throwing error and a 2-out RBI double by Brennan Unruh in the Rogers fourth gave the Royals a 2-0 edge. Sam Ripley's 2-run double with two out in the sixth accounted for the final score.

Senior right-hander Hanson Devine took the loss despite not allowing an earned run. He struck out four, walked four and allowed just three hits.

Brainerd managed just four hits off of Rogers right-hander Mitch Spilles who worked 5.1 innings. He walked four and allowed three hits. Reliever Shawn Watercott finished allowing one hit with one strikeout and earned a save.
