Marcus Lannartson went 4-4 with three run scored to help Brainerd top Pillager 15-5 in Game Two of the Central Lakes Classic Tournament Saturday, July 6.
Brainerd finished the tournament 3-1. It defeated Lincoln, Neb., 6-1 Friday, July 5, lost to Buffalo 9-5 Saturday, July 6 and won 7-5 to Bonteville Sunday, July 7
In its first game Friday, Broc Peterson went 1-1 with an RBI single and three walks in Brainerd’s 6-1 win over Lincoln, Neb. Mason Argir added an RBI single and scored two runs.
Eric Martin went the distance throwing seven innings, allowing three hits and striking out 12 batters.
In the second game, nine of the 10 Brainerd players who stepped to the plate got hits as Brainerd stomped Pillager 15-5. Broc Peterson and Ben Jones both hit triples and Colby Watland went 2-4 with a double and two RBIs. Mike Laber went 2-4 with three runs scored and Marcus Lennartson went 4-4 all of them singles with three runs scored as well.
Konnor Wicklund pitched all five innings. He allowed five runs, two of them earned, and struck out one.
Brainerd’s second game Saturday saw Colin Kleffman go 2-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Agrir went 1-3 with an RBI double. Peterson and Lennartson both had two hits.
Colby Watland pitched 3 1/3 innings. He allowed five runs on seven hits struck out one. Lennartson pitched 2 2/3 innings. He allowed four runs, none of them earned, on one hit.
Watland hit a two-run home run and Eli Roberts hit a two-run double in Brainerd’s 7-2 win over Bonteville. Peterson went 1-2 with a double and two walks and pitched six innings. He allowed two runs, none of them earned and allowed one hit. He also struck out four batters and got the win.
