Area Baseball: W-DC edges Sebeka 4-3

WADENA—Wyatt Hamann doubled and drove in a run for the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines, who improved to 2-0 in the Park Region Conference with a 4-3 win over the Sebeka Trojans Monday, April 8.

Max Phillips also doubled for W-DC while Payton Rondesvedt, Josh Dykhoff and Zach Shaw contributed singles.

Lleyten Pettit was credited with the win. He pitched 1.1 hitless innings and struck out two in relief of starter Rondesvedt. Rondesvedt struck out seven and didn't walk a batter over 5.2 innings. He allowed six hits and three runs, one unearned.

Duluth Marshall 12, Aitkin 3

DULUTH—Jon Blanchette went 2-2 and drove in Aitkin's first run as the Gobblers opened their season with a 12-3 loss to the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers in a Section 7-2A matchup Monday, April 8.

Aitkin took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first only to see Marshall score 10 unanswered runs. The Gobblers were able to add two more runs on a sixth-inning error.

Anton Kalk's single in the fifth was the only other hit for the Gobblers, who were outhit 12-3.
