SAUK RAPIDS -- The Brainerd Bees clipped the Sobieski Skis 1-0 in the opening round of the Section 2B playoffs, but fell to the Moorhead Mudcats 11-5 in the next round to conclude their season with a 5-12 record.

Brainerd scored the winning run over Sobieski Saturday, Aug. 10, in the bottom of the ninth inning when Bryce Flanagan walked. Alex Haapajoki bunted Flanagan over to third. Pinch hitter Casey Welsh than hit an RBI single through a drawn in infield to score the run.

McCale Peterson pitched the complete game victory. He allowed four hits and two walks and struck out four.

Dusty Parker suffered the loss for Sobieski. Thomas Miller started for the Skis. He pitched seven innings of shutout baseball. He struck out two and allowed six hits and one walk.

Peterson went 2-4. Flanagan finished 1-3 with a double, walk and run.

Brian Voigt suffered the loss for Brainerd against Moorhead Sunday, Aug. 11. He struck out three and allowed eight runs, two earned, on nine hits and one walk. Brainerd committed four errors.

Grant Toivonen was 2-4. Joel Martin went 1-3 with a walk and a run. Voigt and Phil Zynda each hit solo home runs and Flanagan was 1-4 with an RBI double.
