Former Brainerd Warriors pitcher Nick Anderson is in his first season in the major leagues as a relief pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays.
Anderson entered in the bottom of the fifth with a man on and two outs and Jose Altuve at the plate in the Rays 6-1 loss to the Houston Astros in the American League Divisional Series Thursday, Oct. 10.
The rookie right hander got Altuve to fly out on his one and only pitch of the inning.
Anderson pitched a perfect sixth inning with three-pitch strikeouts of Alex Bregman and Yordan Alvarez before forcing Yuli Gurriel to line out on the first pitch he faced.
Anderson used just eight pitches, all strikes.
In four postseason games, Anderson pitched five and 2/3 innings. He struck out eight and allowed one run on five hits for a 2.08 ERA.
