Former Brainerd Warriors pitcher Nick Anderson is in his second season in the major leagues as a relief pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays.
In the Rays’ 5-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox Tuesday, Aug. 4, Anderson with one out in the ninth inning and struck out the final two batters to preserve the victory abnd earn the save.
In four games, Anderson is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA. He’s allowed two hits, no walks and struck out four in 3.1 innings pitched. Tuesday’s save was his first this season. Anderson has not walked or hit a batter.
Tampa Bay is second in the AL East behind New York with a 5-7 record.
