Former Brainerd Warriors pitcher Nick Anderson is in his second season in the major leagues as a relief pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays.

Anderson pitched 1.2 innings of relief in the Rays 3-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in the Wild Card round of the MLB playoffs.

Anderson was credited with a hold. He did allow one earned run on two hits in his fifth career postseason appearance.

Anderson, who entered the game in the seventh with one out, threw 29 pitches, 20 for strikes. He forced Teoscar Hernandez to pop out to force an infield fly rule. He then got Joe Panik to line out to short to end the threat.

In the eighth, Anderson got leadoff hitter Alejandro Kirk to pop out for the first out. Rowdy Tellez then singled followed by Cavan Biggio’s double. Bo Bichette drove in Tellez on a sacrifice fly. Randal Grichuk then lined out to short for the third out.
