PEQUOT LAKES — Michael Leidenfrost tallied the lone extra-base hit in the game as the Pierz Pioneers knocked off Pequot Lakes 3-1 Monday, May 17.

Noah Cekalla struck out 13 Pequot batters in 6.1 innings to get the win. Pequot’s lone hit came from Andrew Villareal and Caden Nelson drove in the only Patriots run.

Kolten Happke tallied two RBIs in the win for Pierz.

PILLAGER — Sam Sauber finished 2-3 with two RBIs to lead the Staples-Motley Cardinals to a 5-3 non-conference victory over the Pillager Huskies Monday, May 17.

Cole Winkles finished 2-3 with a run and Hunter Martin hit a double, scored twice and drove in a run for S-M.

Damon Halverson pitched the win. He struck out eight over six innings of work. He allowed three runs on seven hits and one walk. Ben Terrell pitched a perfect seventh inning for the save. He struck out two.

Pillager’s Griffin Decker smashed two home runs and finished 3-3 with three RBIs. Blake Clarke was 2-4 with a run.

DILWORTH — Wadena-Deer Creek’s Payton Rondestvedt and Josh Dykhoff each recorded home runs for the Wolverines as they beat Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 14-6 Monday, May 17.

Rondestvedt was 3-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Dykhoff was 2-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored.

Rondestvedt pitched six innings and struck out nine. Tyson Barthel blasted a double for the Wolverines.

PILLAGER — Crosby-Ironton’s Conner Zender went 3-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored for the Rangers as they beat the Staples-Motley Cardinals 20-10 Monday, May 17, in a make up second game of a doubleheader originally scheduled April 27.

Zender pitched three innings striking out four for the Rangers, while Carter Holtzleicer also pitched three innings for five strikeouts.

Holtzleicer finished 2-3 with three RBIs. Kale Dugan and Conor Smith each drove in two runs. Dietrich Winegarner was 2-5 with a double, three runs and an RBI and Gabe Karmer scored three times.

Staples-Motley’s Payton Bjerga went 3-4 with two runs scored for the Cardinals. Colbe Tappe was 1-3 with a double, three RBIs and a run.
