Lakes area youth basketball teams will converge on Frazee this weekend to play in the Pacesetter Region 6 championships.
Regionals are part of the Minnesota state championship system that culminates in a four-state playoff at the Target Center in Minneapolis this summer with teams from Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Area teams competing Saturday in the Region 6 championship include:
6th grade boys: Brainerd
8th grade boys: Staples-Motley

9th grade girls: Brainerd
Area teams playing Sunday for the Region 6 championships include:
9th grade boys: Brainerd
6th grade girls: Crosby-Ironton
Play begins at 8:30 a.m. both days with all teams playing 3-4 games in each tournament. Teams will play at Frazee High School, Middle School and Elementary School on both Saturday and Sunday.
Regional play will continue through April 19. The Minnesota state championships will be June 20-21 at St. Cloud and the Great Four-State Championships begin June 27 in Minneapolis.
The top two teams from each state advance to play in an 8-team Great Four-State Championship at the Target Center which is sponsored by the Minnesota Lynx and Minnesota Timberwolves.
