ATLANTA -- Napheesa Collier scored 10 consecutive points during a 17-0 Minnesota fourth-quarter run and finished with 22 points as the Lynx snapped a four-game losing streak by defeating the host Atlanta Dream 85-69 on Tuesday, Aug. 6.
Collier, the WNBA Rookie of the Month for July, added 11 rebounds and five assists. Odyssey Sims had 13 points, four rebounds and four assists, and Sylvia Fowles supplied 12 points and 11 rebounds. Danielle Robinson added nine points for the Lynx, who outscored the Dream 30-12 in the fourth.
Renee Montgomery's 19 points led Atlanta, which has lost eight straight. Tiffany Hayes and Alex Bentley had 12 points apiece, and Jessica Breland tossed in 10. Brittney Sykes chipped in nine points and eight rebounds.
The game was tied at 18 apiece after the first quarter. It remained knotted at halftime at 41-all.
The Dream reeled off 11 unanswered points early in the third. Hayes scored the first five points during that stretch. Breland hit two free throws before Sykes made two baskets to give Atlanta a 54-43 advantage.
The Lynx clawed back with a 10-0 outburst. Robinson scored five points and Collier contributed a three-point play during that span. A Bentley 3-pointer ended Atlanta's drought and the Dream were clinging to a 57-55 lead heading into the fourth.
Another Bentley 3 with 7:56 left gave Atlanta a 64-60 lead. The Dream then went cold as the Lynx took control.
Collier put the Lynx on top with a layup. She then made a pullup jumper and converted a three-point play. Collier finished her personal 10-0 outburst with a 3-pointer.
Fowles scored the next two Minnesota points with free throws. A couple of Sims free throws capped off the Lynx's decisive run and gave them a 77-64 lead. Montgomery ended the Dream's drought with a 3-pointer with 2:35 left but the damage was done.
