Boys Basketball: Sauer named Warrior MVP

Joey Sauer

Joey Sauer was named the Brainerd Warriors Most Valuable Player at the team's postseason awards banquet.

Sauer, who was named the Brainerd Dispatch Player of the Year last week, also earned co-Offensive Player of the Year, Academic All-Central Lakes Conference and Academic All-State. He also landed a spot with Owen Davis on the All-CLC team.

Mason Malone, Ben Staehling and Connor Powers were conference honorable mention selections.

Gabe Smith also earned academic all-conference.

Manni Ukutegbe was named the team's Most Improved with Malone earning Defensive Player of the year. Davis was co-Offensive Player of the Year and senior Eric Martin earned the Warrior Award for a player who best upheld the team's pillars of attitude, effort, improvement and fun.
