Former Brainerd High School graduate and Nisswa native Gabe Raguse placed fourth in the best 2-of-3 race Dec. 28 in the US Team Trails at Soldier Hollow Olympic venue in Utah.
Raguse, a sophomore at St. Scholastica was 2,2 in the 10-kilometer sprint and finished with a time of 32:23.
On Dec. 30, in the 10-kilometer pursuit, Raguse placed second in his class and fifth overall with 1,1,1,0 shooting and a 32:21 time. He was five seconds behind top junior Eli Nielson of Washington and 1:41 behind Garret Beckrich of Grand Rapids, who topped the entire field.
In the 7.5-kilometer spring, Raguse placed fourth with 1,2 shooting and 22:35 time.
The top two junior athletes advanced to the World Championships in Slovakia in late January.
