Jenna Ruzich and Cam Christiansen, competing for the Nisswa Northwest team, won their classes and were second overall at the 10km Elk River Rollerski Biathlon race Thursday.
Ruzich, a senior at Minnesota-Duluth from Baxter, shot 3,2,0,2, in 38:15 for first in the Senior Women's class and was the second female overall. Ruzich finished one second ahead of teammate Hanne Guthrie, Chanhassen, who shot 4,3,3,2.
Cam Christiansen, Nisswa, finished first in his Youth Men's class and was the second male overall, shooting 1,1,2,2, and finishing in 31:15. He finished 1:20 behind winner Jakob Ellingson of Hopkins, who shot 1,1,1,2, and won the Junior Men's category.
Gerrit Garberich, NNW, Brainerd, finished second in the Junior Men's category, and fifth overall, shooting 2,4,2,5 in 38:51.
Zach Nelson, NNW, Duluth, was the first Senior Man, and fourth overall, shooting 1,2,4,3, in 35:51. Evan Ingebrigtson, NNW, Baxter, was second in the Masters Men's class, shooting 1,4,3,3, in 45:51.

At the recent North American Rollerski Biathlon Championships in Jericho Vt., Christiansen raced up two years to the Junior Men's class and was the third North American in the 10km sprint race, shooting 1,2, in 27:59 and was sixth North American in the 12.5km Pursuit event, shooting 2,5,3,1 in 41:25.
In those events Zean Baker, NNW, Nisswa, broke a ski and did not finish the sprint race, and broke another ski in the Pursuit, and was the eighth North American, shooting 2,1,2,2, in 43:11.
The next event is Sept. 14 at Elk River.
