Biathlon: Zupko tops the MNCup No. 3 stop

Hunter Zupko rebounded to top former teammate Jackson Grant in the MNCup No. 3 biathlon event Sunday, Jan. 13 in Nisswa.

Grant, a Little Falls sophomore was in first after the sprint event with a 0,2 shooting and a time of 14:38. Zupko was second shooting 3,2 and 16:33.

Other top sprinters were Stormy Hegg of Wolfpack Alexandria in the women's field, who shot 2,3 and finished in 18;36. Emma Watson of Duluth Biathlon was second with 2,2 and 18:56.

Ryker Bosek of Wolfpack was the top boy as he held off Connor Grant of NNW. Bosek shot 3,5. Connor Grant was 4,3, but Bosek got Grant by 36 seconds.

Lacy Watson of Duluth was the top girl with 4,3 and 22:43.

It was in the pursuit format that Zupko overtook Jackson Grant. Zupko shot 1,3,2,1 to Grant's 1,2,4,3 and edged him by 15 seconds 23:25 to 23:40.

Hegg held on to win the women's side shooting 2,2,3,0 and outskiing Watson, who shot 2,1,1,2, by 2:15.

Bosek again held off Grant for a 39-second win. Bosek shot 0,1,3,3 and Grant shot 1,1,2,3.
