PINE RIVER -- The Pine River-Backus Tigers boys' basketball team improved to 18-3 overall with a 74-68 non-conference win over the Aitkin Gobblers on Friday.
Derek Wangberg paced the Tigers with 23 points and Joe Bueckers added 20 for PR-B.
Brandon Siemers was the leading scorer for Aitkin with 23 points.

WADENA -- The Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines had three players score in double figures and recorded a 74-69 non-conference victory over the Bagley Flyers on Friday.
Cory Ohman led the Wolverines with 20 points, Kip Johnson added 16 and Michael Moenkedick chipped in with 14 for W-DC which improved to 18-4 overall.

DEER RIVER -- The Crosby-Ironton Rangers defeated the Deer River Warriors 57-49 in a non-conference contest on Friday.
Leading scorer for the Rangers was Reid Kuschel with 20 points. Luke Millsop scored 13 points and also grabbed 8 rebounds.
C-I made 21-48 (43 percent) field goals and shot 13-17 (76 percent) from the line.
Deer Rivers' Jess Huju led the Warriors with 20 points.

BARRETT -- The Staples-Motley Cardinals defeated the West Central Knights 59-51 in a non-conference clash Friday.
"I think this was a great win for our kids," said SM coach Lynn Peterson. "We had foul trouble." S-M had 23 fouls and two players fouled out.
Cardinals played without point guard Jeff Brever who sprained his ankle.
Leading the Cardinals was Shannon Webster with 20 points and Dustin Hjelmeland with 19 points. "The entire ball game Webster and (Wade) Christensen both did great," said Peterson.
"Bobby Jares, Nate Grandlund and Evan Frisk came off the bench and did what they needed to do," said Peterson.
