PAYNESVILLE — Cade Villwock netted a goal and assisted on another for the Brainerd Warriors who picked up their first win of the season 3-0 over the River Lakes Stars in Central Lakes Conference action Thursday, Jan. 21.

Playing on the Warrior fourth line, Villwock assisted on a John Finnegan goal at 13:11 of the second and then scored himself before the end of the period with assists from Cayden Kleffman and Erik Stoxen.

Eric Pohlkamp wrapped up the Brainerd scoring with a third-period, power-play goal assisted by Max Roby.

Goalie Jed Klang only needed to make five saves to keep the Brainerd nets empty while the Warriors were peppering Stars goal, Josh Venable, with 51 shots on goal.

“Obviously we played pretty well putting 51 shots on goal, but we struggled to score,” Brainerd head coach Dave Aus said. “Their goalie had an outstanding night.
