Boys Hockey: Hawks double up Warriors

HERMANTOWN--Jack Evans, Mason Kruse and Matt Fischer netted goals for the Brainerd Warriors in a 6-3 non-conference loss to Class 1A's top-ranked Hermantown Hawks Friday.

HERMANTOWN-Jack Evans, Mason Kruse and Matt Fischer netted goals for the Brainerd Warriors in a 6-3 non-conference loss to Class 1A's top-ranked Hermantown Hawks Friday.

Warrior goalie Jimmy Engen recorded 33 saves as Hermantown outshot Brainerd 35-24.

The Hawks are the defending Class 1A state champions. They have won 19 straight and are fifth in the state with a 5.5 goals-per-game average. They lead the state with a 1.2 goals-allowed average.

Brainerd ends the regular season 14-9-2 and saw its four-game unbeaten streak end.
